What is Approval Voting?

Approval Voting lets you vote for every candidate you support, not just one. The candidate with the most votes wins. It's as simple as that!

Today, when you enter the polling
booth, you can only vote for one candidate. That single choice can cause lots of
problems:
- You can't vote your conscience. If your favorite isn’t the front runner, voting for them risks helping the candidate you like least win. This is called “the spoiler effect”.
- Winners without broad support. Winning candidates often don’t represent a broad base of voters. It is common for candidates to win with far less than 50% of the vote.
- A two-party lock. The system rewards whoever's already dominant, leaving little room for new ideas to break through.

Voting is the simple tweak that offers enormous benefits:
- No more spoiler effect. Vote for every candidate you want to support. Approving someone else never helps your least favorite win.
- More representative winners. Because support adds up instead of splitting apart, the winner reflects real, broad agreement, not just whoever survived a divided field.
- Room for more than two. Independent and new candidates can build real support because every voter is free to support them. They only have to earn support, not steal it from an established base.
